Stage 15, Inner Parkside (2G)

The Tour de San Francisco is our version of the great cycling race, where we tour through our nano-markets around town. Last week was Stage 14, Inner Sunset. This week, stage 15 goes under cover in District 2G...Inner Parkside. We'll finish after 86 stages with district 10K...Bayview Heights. If you have anything you want to say about your neighborhood, we want to hear it.

The Inner Parkside is another one of those hidden San Francisco gems. When you are there it sure doesn't feel like "parkside". Of course if you live in the Inner, the Outer Parkside must not feel like "parkside". It's all relative, I guess. Anyhow, to see a great example of the types of homes here, click on "the listings" below. This area is essentially bordered by Ortega to the north, Wawona to the south, 19th Ave to the west, and 14th Ave to the east. (We'll get the hi-lited map up soon.) It sits in the shadow of Golden Gate Heights, but has some pretty spectacular view homes as well. One street that always grabs our attention is 16th Ave between Rivera and Taraval. The street narrows, bends, is one way, and is very, very cute. The homes on this street are very well taken care of. In fact the entire Inner Parkside is very well maintained.

The weather is one factor that may deter. In Fall, Winter, and Spring you can enjoy sun and great views, although it gets a bit windy in Spring, but in Summer...forget about it. The fog and wind put this area on lockdown. If you don't do well in fog and icy wind. Don't go there. But if you're struggling to find a $900,000 condo in one of the more "centrally located" areas of the city, but can deal with a little grey skies, you'd be surprised what your money can buy you here. It's a great area and just minutes away from the ever so popular West Portal. Check it out!
